Large-scale shared events that bring together postgraduate research students from across the Digital Economy Theme and allow networking between CDTs have been running since the establishment of the first group of EPSRC Digital Economy CDTs in 2009.
Aims and Objectives:
Under this theme, DEN aims to provide additional resources to support and expand this activity through the following methods:
- The annual Digital Economy Summer Schools (to be hosted by a different CDT each year).
- Funding to support global and national events open to all Digital Economy PGR students e.g. Digital YES entrepreneurial events, cross-CDT PhD writing retreats and themed conferences.
DEN deliverables so far:
- 5 x DE Summer Schools delivered in July each year, delieverd by the following Universities: Queen Mary University of London (in Paris, 2014) University of Southampton (2015), Newcastle University (2016), Loughborough University London (2017), Bournemouth University/University of Bath (2018).
- 8 x Cross-CDT PhD 2-day residential writing retreats delivered between 2016-2018 (3 at Wyresdale Park, Lancashire, 2 at Elmore Court, Gloucester, 1 at Hothorpe Hall, Leicestershire, 1 at Thrumpton Hall, Nottinghamshire and 1 at New Bath Hotel, Derbyshire).
